Time for a paddle

Jun 02, 2024

Had an amazing time Friday night with Exeter KayakHub and their Friday Social Paddle.

It was so good for the soul!

There were so many of us on all kinds, we had canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards. It was great to see so many people out with the first social of the season.

I was even lucky enough to paddle with one of the local/ regular's dog, which was an incredible experience for the first time. She was meant to go in one of the canoes, but with the hustle and bustle of everyone getting on the water, it felt like she was about to be forgotten, so as I was holding her out the way anyway (i prefer getting on the water last) I said I would happily take her and see how it went. It was the most exciting and joyful experience I've had on the water since starting to paddleboard on my own. I can't wait for my little Lila to come out with me, and I think she is going to love it; if nothing else, she will stay close to me, which will be perfect for balancing 😅

And for saying the dog, Roxy, didn't know me particularly well, as it's been since roughly August since I last saw her, she did amazingly with me and my board.

Check out the gallery for photos taken by the team at Kayakhub. And the one and only photo I clearly took.

And clearly, it didn't hurt that Roxy looks like a slightly older (she's 18 months) version of Lila
