Help Us Save the Swiss Hut at Skebo Manor ❤️

May 16, 2025

Tucked away in the English garden park at Skebo Herrgård (Skebo Manor, built in 1770) in Roslagen, Sweden, stands a charming little Swiss-inspired building on a hill overlooking the lake. Though weathered and worn today, this “Schweizeri” was once a vibrant café in the 19th century, where pastries, liqueurs, and warm drinks were served in a romantic garden setting. These Swiss-style villas, introduced by immigrant confectioners, were once a hallmark of manor life across Sweden - and Skebo Manor was no exception.

Sadly, after decades of neglect, storms, and fallen trees, this beautiful piece of history has been left to crumble. When we became stewards of Skebo Manor five years ago, the hut was already in a state of serious disrepair - but we made a promise to ourselves: one day, we would bring it back to life.

That day has come — but we can’t do it without your help.

Restoring this building is about so much more than saving an old structure. It’s about preserving a rare slice of cultural heritage, offering a space for learning and reflection, and creating new memories for generations to come. We dream of opening it once more as a summer café, perhaps even hosting intimate weddings or concerts under the trees - all while honouring the rich history it represents.

We’re just a small family of five, doing our best to care for this historic manor and its grounds with our own hands and hearts. Every contribution - no matter how small - brings us closer to saving the Swiss hut and making it part of the community once again.
