The People’s Letters in our old headquarters Bethnal Green is a worker-led cooperative bookshop and community space filled with radical books, independent publishing, queer voices, working-class politics, and the kind of literature that still believes words can change things.
In an increasingly corporate literary world, I find myself drawn more and more to places like this. Small, independent spaces run by people who give a shit. Places that understand books are not just products to be sold, but ways of finding each other. Of organising. Of resisting. Of feeling less alone.
This is the kind of literary culture Sunday Mornings at the River wants to stand beside.
