A sample taken on September 21 tested positive for a banned substance.
The Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games has seen its first doping discovery.
"Afghan boxer Mohammad Kaibar Nuristani, 37, has become the first athlete to fail a drug test at the Asian Games," Olympic media outlet Inside the Games reported on Monday.
According to an announcement from the International Testing Agency (ITA), Nuristani tested positive for banned substances 19-norandrosterone and clostebol. The two substances are a type of anabolic steroid used for performance enhancement and are on the World Anti-Doping Agency's list of banned substances.
"The samples were taken during an out-of-competition test conducted by the ITA on Nov. 21, two days before the start of the Asian Games," the media outlet explained.
Nuristani was immediately and provisionally suspended by the ITA after the banned substance was discovered. However, Nuristani will have the right to request that a B (second) sample be analyzed.
Nuristani was one of 82 Afghan athletes competing at the Games. He lost to Mongolia's Tuguldur Baambasogt in the round of 32 of the men's boxing on May 25. 스포츠토토맨
