Doesn't that sound nice? How often do we really think about our feet anyway? They carry us from one spot to the next, and let's face it; they work hard. Ayurveda teaches us the importance of foot care and how that can positively benefit your overall well-being. The other night I gave myself a foot rub. I have this foot bath and whenever I have time I absolutely love to sock my feet in this thing. I make sure all my dry skin is gone with a foot exfoliating tool and allow my feet so just sit in the water. It felt so relaxing. The smell of body wash in cherry blossom 🌸 came to me. I took out some oil for my Vata Dosha and began to use my hands to massage my feet. I had no idea how sore my feet really were. I felt a knots right in the middle of my foot. I decided to Google a reflexology chart and work my way through each pressure point. I could feel a difference in my lower back and even in my breathing. The more I massaged my foot and felt each muscle and thinking about the connection this part of me has with the earth, I truly felt a spiritual and physical connection. That with each inhale of all the stresses of life to an open mouth exhale releasing all of the tightness inside; I was once again proven the truth of Ayurveda and connect we can make with all of our senses, all of our thoughts and all of our heart. Synergy at its best. So, this was one hell of a foot rub. I remember the words thank you flowing through my heart with each pressure point being activated by my knuckles, sending thanks to this part of my body that has done so so much for me. My feet connect me to the Earth and my thanks for that is a major self-care routine: the classic self-massage (foot rub style). I implore you all to take time for yourself whether it be this evening or whenever you receive this message. You don't need buy a foot bath (though I highly recommend investing in one, whatever the price) but take time to slip off your shoes and socks. Step in your bath, shower, footbath, whatever you chose and let the water wash over your feet. Slip each finger in between each toe and feel the stretch that has been waaay overdue. Use a pretty smelling body wash and also invest in an exfoliating sponge and close your eyes and follow what your body is directing you to do. Give thanks to your feet for bringing you to this moment. Give thanks for taking you where you need to go. Look up a reflexology chart (I'll post one below) and explore your.....feet! I know that sounds super weird but I doubt you've even noticed your feet because your too busy paying attention to your back pain. Well what a great thing to know that the muscles in your feet can dramatically change the pattern of pain that travels all the way up your body. So, start with the feet first. The feet will guide you. And give thanks, because all one can feel is gratitude when the Mind, Body and Spirit connect.
