If you want a calmer relationship to your cycle without the overwhelming anxiety and shame, this guide is for you.
'A Guide to Reframing and Releasing PMDD' is a neuro-affirming zine which cuts through the noise of 'quick fixes', calls attention to systemic oppression, and helps to lay the groundwork for your unique recovery journey to take place.
I know first hand how it feels to:
→ Have tried everything and still feel stuck
→ Exhaust yourself searching for that one thing that will make all of this go away - a pill, supplement, partner or friendship group
→ Scour the internet and social media for hours on end, desperate to find something that works but nothing ever does
→ Be inches away from blowing your life up every month - nothing feels right
→ Experience life like a ticking time bomb, just waiting for the loop of doom to start all over again that feels impossible to break
This is for you if:
→ You're ready for a completely new way of looking at PMDD
→ You want support for the toughest days
→ You're longing for a better relationship to yourself and others
→ You're sick of chasing 'quick fixes’ that don’t work
→ You're ready to release harmful thought patterns
→ You want to build more self-trust
“I love how you reframe PMDD as a nudge towards living more authentically. Learning to listen, honour and work with my cycle has been such a game changer. Here’s to unmasking and thriving in our brilliance! Big love to you”
- kind words from a lovely reader
Who am I & why would you trust me?
I’m Sophie, lived-experience writer, artist, and certified menstrual mentor. I was experiencing PMDD for years, stuck in a loop of panic, shame and self-sabotage - my self-worth was tied so closely to the act of giving and performing that when I would shift into my luteal phase (which requires introspection & self-care) I simply couldn’t cope. I had put on a show for 10 years and suddenly PMDD interrupted the performance.
I was stripped of all my coping strategies and the more I tried to take advantage of the rising energy in the first half of my cycle - keeping up the performance of fun, energetic, adventurous Sophie - the worse the consequences would be for the rest of the month. I felt like I was living a double life. I tried medication, supplements and restrictive diets but nothing seemed to work - nothing was getting to the root of things.
Since recovering from PMDD and becoming a menstrual mentor via Red School, I’ve been working on this resource to support others on their journey. I have first-hand experience of the sheer dread and hopelessness that comes with PMDD, as well as the disappointment and wasted money behind every ‘quick fix’, so my intention is to offer you some relief from the emotional spiralling and loss of self trust, providing you with tools and ideas that will support you in both the long and short term.
