This week I had a few chances to talk with people about investment and stewardship. One prophetic prayer even mentioned many books I would write, and the next one being about stewardship.
That got me thinking... what do I actually believe about stewardship?
For me it includes knowledge, the things I’ve learnt that I can pass on. It includes relationships, which need time, care, and sometimes forgiveness. It also includes the network of people around me. Stewardship means looking out for them, making connections when they need it, and guarding trust.
Jesus once told a parable about a nobleman who went to a far country to receive a kingdom. The people didn’t like him, but he still entrusted resources to his servants. Some used what they were given to multiply and expand, and they were rewarded when he returned. One servant, out of fear, hid his gift. That story lingers with me. In a world that may not welcome Jesus, do I still use what he has given me to keep his work moving, or do I hide it?
When I look back, I don’t really remember the money I gave. I remember the hours with a friend, the lessons shared with a younger leader, the phone call made to keep a relationship alive.
I want to be faithful with these things until our Lord returns.
Here’s how you can think about this for yourself. What treasure in your hands needs faithfulness today?
