Penthouse balcony
Buttered toast
and the sunny side of life
A Morning that seems wonderfully
never-ending
.
Jazz and coffee
the stereo turning
Summer rolling
into a whisper of Fall
.
Distant sounds
of traffic
and the hustling world
‘down below’
Imagined days
and colorful nights
in the air that rises
.
Pigeons fly by
The doorbell rings
Sounds fade now
like the sunlight behind the cloud,
like the cream which laced the coffee;
like just… somehow
.
Who knew
it would rain?
Manhattan Rain was inspired by the thought of bad news intruding on a happy morning. Above is a picture of me adjusting the strap on my umbrella. I always prepare for the likelihood of rain—even on the sunniest of days☀️

As always, I’ll be shifting hibiscus moons behind dreaming eyes!
