What is Vulnerability?

Lasting connection happens when we are vulnerable without having expectation in our relationships. The issue is that many of us don't like to display our vulnerability, because vulnerability is often equated to weakness, not strength. This idea is as far from the truth as you can imagine. However, the truth tends to get lost and even overlooked amongst the masses when an illusive idea has been widely accepted as a normative standard. Here are some fundamental principles (truths) about vulnerability: I. Vulnerability is more so about being confident in trusting your own choices, actions and experiences than about waiting for a person to prove their trust to you. II. Your vulnerability is to God first, for you second and then others experience/reap the rewards of you being able to be your authentic self. III. Vulnerability is first and foremost an emotional resource, an action that is an invitation for God to search your heart. IV. Vulnerability is placing the shadows of your weaknesses in the light of love, so love can remove the shadows and leave you standing firmly grounded in the true light of who you are. V. Surrendering to your vulnerability is a gift that you give to yourself. 2024 © Sharla R. Kornegay, Interask Coaching LLC, Forever Friends Academy, All Rights Reserved
