Hi, I'm Sara, a deaf queer writer, organizer, and parent, and the author of the newsletter Signs + Wonders on Buttondown.

I also wrote the bestselling novel TRUE BIZ, which was a 2022 Reese's Book Club pick, as well as the books GIRL AT WAR and AMERICA IS IMMIGRANTS. My memoir, MOTHER TONGUE, is out on 5 May 2026 and available to preorder now.

I live on the fringe of Philly with my family, and am an instructor of Deaf Studies and creative writing.
