Holiday French for Beginners (8 week course)

This is a series of 8 lessons. You will receive links to 8 pre-recorded lesson of between 35 to 50 minutes each (5½ hours in total) and 16 accompanying pdf worksheets (with answers).

Lesson 1: we’ll cover a few letters of the alphabet and you will learn greetings, some different types of transport, and some useful phrases for hiring a car and buying tickets.

Lesson2: you’ll learn a few more letters of the alphabet as well as how to use some of the vocabulary from week 1 to order snacks and soft drinks in a café.

Lesson 3: you’ll learn a few more letters of the alphabet and reuse some of what you learnt in the first two weeks to ask for a table in a restaurant and order a meal with alcoholic drinks. We’ll also look at some of the things the waiter might say to you to help you give an appropriate response.

Lesson 4: you’ll learn the last few letters of the alphabet. You’ll also learn the words for various places around town that you might want to visit as a tourist as well as learning how to ask where they are and understanding a very basic response to the question.

Lesson5: you’ll learn the words for a few more places in town and start describing where they are on a map (included).

Lesson 6: we’ll build on the previous two lessons. We’ll be looking at a map of a town, and begin asking for directions and understanding the most common responses, such as “Go straight on” and “Turn left.”

Lesson 7: you will learn how to hold a basic conversation about yourself and your family, including giving your name, nationality, showing photographs of family members.

Lesson 8: a celebration of everything you have learnt so far. There is revision of the previous seven lessons and quiz questions so that you can test yourself. No worksheets this lesson - this is just a fun way to revise.
