As of October 3, 2023, RFM has a page solely dedicated to microfiction. Microfiction is generally defined as stories of less than 300 words. The RFM page is for stories between 300-101 words (fewer words than that become an administrative problem in time management). However, RFM sees publishing works between 300-101 as beneficial, because it opens up an additional genre to the RFM audience. While short stories of over 300 words and poems will continue to be published daily at 10:00 US central time, the current plan is to publish microfiction at whatever time it is accepted. This will enable its authors to see their work online without waiting and it will appear in at different times during the day, hopefully attracting more attention in various time zones around the world.
