Start a podcast!
That's right! We started a podcast. Because apparently we were bored.😂
Over the years, a lot of young adults have turned to us for support, advice, guidance, and maybe just a shoulder to cry on. It's really been an honor, and eventually I realized that we were, in many ways, living the dream of many of these young people (listen to how old I sound!). They wanted to raise a happy family full of kids, rooted in their faith, with all of the messiness, noise, and joy that comes with it.
And we were doing it.
Within our first year of marriage, Mary Kate was told she was infertile. It was a bit of a harsh medical diagnosis simply because we hadn't conceived after six months of trying, but the weight of it was real. To this day, Mary Kate recalls that season of our life as being one of the hardest, which is saying a lot if you know anything about the different seasons we've been through.
So, when people look to us and think, "I hope someday I can have a big family like them," we don't take it lightly. Every kid has been a gift, and not everyone is given the opportunity to have as many children as we have.
And that's why we started a podcast: because we want to give people a little glimpse into the good life. The good life of homeschooling six kids, raising two sets of twins, and changing an unbelievable amount of diapers.
