I’ve Finally Started Writing Again

Note: This was originally published on my Wordpress blog on July 21, 2024. I’ve decided to give this website another try, and as a way to organize my thoughts on writing. This post was the published on January 1, 2025 on Tumblr.

So, it’s been a while since I’ve actually started working on anything, and I think I’m in the right mindset to start working on my works again. I’ve started looking over The Lady of Wight novel I’ve been working on for a while, and it needs some side stories that need to be completed if I’m going to do this piece of crap justice.

First there’s Silent Towers, a simple dark fantasy short story that one of my main characters writes when he’s grieving the loss of the love of his life. The second is a set of poems that MC’s SO wrote just before she took her own life, those are called The Poems of Amanda Cunnings.

There’s a lot of writing to be done. I’ve already started outlining Silent Towers and it’s going by really well, but I forget how daunting the whole process of writing is…I just hope that these two short projects are enough to spark my interest in the craft again, because frankly, I’m not sure if I want to even finish these books, but…I’m already so far into it, I might as well finish it. If it flops, it flops, if it doesn’t, then yay, but tbh, I don’t think anyone would care whether or not these works are completed or not.

So I was searching through my accounts of what I had published and I had found a short story that is suppose attached to The Lady of Wight called the Architect.

The Architect is a collection of journal entries about an architect that was cursed with the Lady of Wight’s curse as well, and swore to serve her as long as the Lady of Wight didn’t touch his family. This is an account of a man who would lure people into his family’s summer cabin out in the woods and offer them to the Lady of Wight as an offering, at an alter. After so many offerings, the man’s guilt got to him, and he refused to give any more offerings to the demonic looking statue on his wall. This is where this short story begins, where the Lady of Wight goes back and takes his family from him, and finally the Architect himself. The last page of the journals reads “And we left in black butterflies”, foreshadowing the fate that James will receive at the end of The Lady of Wight.
