43: Love You

43: Love You

Apr 26, 2023

I turned 43 today, and today I'm really grateful for the many gifts of this life.

From making geeky music for kids to being the world's okayest rapper, one of the joys I've had in life is to share my musical creations with the world, and I can't wait to share my new songs with you.

Lately I've been inspired by Fred Rogers. His favorite number was 143, and it was was his code for “I love you,” a shorthand taken from the number of letters in each word of the phrase. I've been studying Fred Rogers for a few years now, and such amusing trifles of his have become powerful symbols to me.

Turning 43, that's the "love you" year.

As I celebrate my birthday this week, I want love for others to characterize who I am this year, and when I recall that I've turned 43, I will be reminded of Fred's numerical game, of 143, "I Love You." Let all that you do be done in love, and all that.

On January 21, 2023, we released an album of songs I wrote largely inspired by Fred's life and teaching:

You can find it basically anywhere on the internet, and this link will take you to your favorite streaming or download platform: https://album.link/us/i/1665315217

What's Next? I have two more batches of songs to release this year on the Royal Ruckus Presents...Mr. Bennett's Neighborhood project, each one building on the previous. The beats are dope, the rhymes are thoughtful, and it is all inspired by neighborly love.

The Big Picture: We are looking for listeners and supporters who see the value in this project and want to see it come to light—and bring with it light. Whether "buying" us a "coffee" for $5, or picking up one of our larger support packages, you'll be helping to make quality, positive, indie hip-hop available for everyone.

By the Numbers: We are already 1/3 of the way to our listener/supporter goal for the three albums, and if we can raise a modest $3000 total, we can bring these songs to you, and bring them to you with the right finishing touches and sound.

The Bottom Line: We are going to make these three albums available to everyone, through the wonders of the internet. It will be on all major streaming and download platforms, and available free of charge for everyone on YouTube, Bandcamp, and other online outlets.

If you like what we're doing, for my birthday won't you chip in the money you'd spend on a coffee to help make this happen? Here's how:

I might even send you a thank you! And you're always welcome to reach out to me at [email protected]. If you've already supported the record, we thank you again and congratulate you for your taste for high quality neighborly raps.

All the best,
Jamey

P.S. It's not just music alone, we also have a new music video for the new project. Check it out:
