Is anyone there?

Is anyone there?

Testing, testing, 1, 2, 3!

Like most people, I’m a multi-hyphenate – daughter, sister, friend, traveller, beach lover. There are innumerous ways that I could describe myself but for the purposes such as this, I’m a personal finance enthusiast.

A little background, two weeks after my 18th birthday I moved to Belo Horizonte, Brazil to study at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG). The time that I spent in Brazil was amazing (honestly some of the best years of my life to date) and I walked away with a BSC in Actuarial Science to boot!

I have always been very interested in money, admittedly I didn’t have to worry about it much growing up (Thanks Dad 💗).

However, that all changed when I went to Brazil. Now I had to manage my own money, buy groceries, be frugal and still enjoy my college years while being abroad in a foreign country?! Needless to say, the first year (or two) was a bit stressful but eventually, I got the hang of this thing called budgeting.

As I progressed in my classes the topic of retirement planning and investing piqued my interest, so much so that for my final year thesis I wrote about Social Security in a Developing Country using the National Insurance Fund of Barbados as a case study.

The 5 main categories to expect from this blog are budgeting, saving, investing, retirement planning, and social security. If you're interested in hearing about these topics and a few personal tidbits go ahead and buy me a coffee. You're helping me get one step closer to debt freedom 💕
