PROJECT 3.24 March update

PROJECT 3.24 March update

Mar 14, 2025

Well well well... It's been a year and we are really close to the finish line.

Last post from the body work had me a little disheartened as my resin hadn't set quite right and felt the slightest bit soft. However I've been trying to reorganize my office, so I'd put it on the shelf and hadn't done much with it and when I checked it out in February, it seemed to setup fully (maybe I mentioned it looked promising in my last post, but regardless, it's good to go!)

The past month has been pretty challenging between work and life in general... A lot of things in motion, constant change and turbulence, along with some general hecticness with some projects (besides THIS one... I'll show the guitar projects below).

However, moving ahead on THIS... The fretboard inlays are done, all the hardware is in, I have the electronics I want, and modified the Schaller Mega Switch to facilitate the pickup configurations I want.

Now is the part that I have found I seem to hit an issue with; finishing.

I don't really know why that is. Whether it's a matter of fear to see the efforts fall short of what I envisioned, not knowing how to let it go, or what. I think it's really a fear of the finished THING not being up to expectation or not working. This isn't my only project to have this happen... But I need to get past it.

So along the way of THIS guitar, I started building one for myself after seeing one of the most beautiful bodies I've ever seen.

I mean... We are talking a body like 36-24-36... And she's 5'3”!!! And on top of that... She's carbon fiber. My lil industrial, gothic shawty! LoLimage

Almost ALL blacked out with some pretty trick hardware on it... More to come, but here is the AWFUL mock-up I did on my phone of the one I'll be building for my buddy who was crushing hard on this one... He didn't want the bridge system I have, but wanted a lil bit of gold on it and I'm digging it... More important, he's IN LOVE with what he's seeing so far.

I just need to get the electronics setup as I'm going to be assembling this WITH him so he can learn. I plan on making it easy for him to mod the electronics in the future with solderless connector points and will give him a schematic, so if he ever digs into it (or takes it to a shop) they know EXACTLY what's going on with it. It will be standard Tele wiring with 3 way switch (he wants Springsteen tone from I'm On Fire), so nothing crazy... But it should be a great gateway if he ever chooses to dabble.
