The T-Deck V2 firmware has now been released, and takes advantage of the large screen.
For the first release, a simple scaling was done to emulate the original 128x64 OLED screens that the Ripple Qwerty firmware was written for. (and some cyan accent colour elements were added). This was nice and easy, but obviously doesn't take full advantage of the 320x240 colour screen of the T-Deck (possibly its biggest sell-factor).
The firmware now has been enhanced to fit more elements into various screens, like the various menus, lists (eg. canned messages, waypoints, etc). Probably the most notable difference is in the conversation screen:
The firmware is now downloadable for free in the Extras section. Of course, tips are very welcome and will help fund further development.
Flashing
Please refer to the post here, about flashing ESP32 devices. NOTE: for the T-Deck, before flashing you need to put the device into DFU mode by pressing and holding down the trackball then press the small reset button on the left side of the device. (then release trackball) Then flash the firmware.
After flashing the .bin, you then need to press the reset button to reboot into normal mode.
Future Stuff
I have been experimenting with the I2S speaker to enable alert sounds for incoming messages. I've had a little bit of success, but unfortunately it has introduced stability issues, so is not included yet :-(
