Unveiling "Peaceful Towns": Should you buy this music pack? (Yes)

Jun 14, 2023

Do you remember those classic Pokémon games for Game Boy Color (which are probably in an antique museum now) where you could stroll through Pallet Town, Cerulean City, Lavender Town, and Cinnabar Island? Each of those places had its own musical theme and charm.

That was the initial inspiration for 'Peaceful Towns.' My goal was to create tracks that evoke different atmospheres, with their own personality and distinct features. Yet, despite that, they would feel coherent within the same game.

I.- Instruments Used

For this music pack, I decided to exclusively use acoustic instruments that convey a rustic, traditional, tranquil, cheerful, or mysterious and natural feel.

Unlike the previous music pack, 'Oniric Worlds', there is no instrument taking the spotlight this time. All the instruments constantly interact and play a specific role in each piece.

I used a traditional Chinese instrument called the 'Yueqin' or Moon Guitar. This instrument brings a sense of tradition, tranquility, beauty, and reflection.

To accompany the Moon Guitar, I also used a mandolin. The interplay between both string instruments is fascinating. While the Moon Guitar sounds like an ancient instrument, the mandolin adds brightness and definition. Moreover, they have different timbres, which makes their combination intriguing.

On this occasion, I found it interesting to involve a woodwind section. This section consists of a transverse flute, a clarinet, and an oboe. The emotional range of these instruments is vast; their sounds can evoke joy, a bright day, and vibrant energy. However, they can also express intrigue, suspense, and reflection.

A traditional string section is also present in the music of Peaceful Towns. This element also expresses tradition, familiarity, and stability. These familiar sounds accompany and balance the more exotic ones, making them sound grandiose and important.

Last but not least, I used a marimba. The sound of this instrument is playful, carefree, relaxed, and bright. You will find it accompanying melodies or creating its own.

In summary, the combination of these instruments is unique, and you will rarely hear it elsewhere.

Here is a Sampler Track where you can listen to some excerpts from the pieces included in the 'Peaceful Towns' pack. Close your eyes and imagine how these melodies could enhance your game.

II.- How Can I Get Peaceful Towns?

Currently, the only way to get Peaceful Towns is through the Unity Asset Store. To find it, you can search for my username, 'Rikhardt_Music', or click on this link if you prefer.

Downloading through the Buy Me a Coffee platform is not available because the music pack exceeds the platform's file size limit. However, I have already contacted the developers, and they promised to increase the file size limit to accommodate this and future music packs.

If you are working on a platform other than Unity and want to purchase the pack, you can contact me directly to discuss alternative options.
