Over a year ago now i was lying on my bed probably with insomnia trying to sleep when a thought rushed in on developing a new podcast on Spotify. Earlier during the day i would have come to realise that it is possible to make podcasts with music through anchor.fm (now part of Spotify) where the podcast episode would only be available on Spotify. A clever way to get round music royalty & licensing because normally for me to produce a podcast with music i would have to enter into a whole host of royalty agreements and licensing which makes it kinda unattainable. That is until now!
So what is the Big Idea?
There are many people who don't do church, but perhaps every now and again would like to drop in, but then they don't have the time. Well it seems the only time for those drop ins on a church service is Sunday at 11am, although also increasingly earlier at 10:30 for many. So, and here's the what if there was a podcast that was like a music playlist but also produced as if it was a Sunday Morning Worship Service!
So the playlist on spotify was born - Sunday Morning Service Playlist--
To date we have produced 3 episodes, the last two with my new co-worker in this Sam in London, you must listen to the last two episodes where we not only unpack the message of John 14v6 in our short sermon (under 4 minutes) and Sam tells each time more of her story of life after being brought up as a Jehova's Witness. This Podcast is with music is a good reflective and thoughtful part of your Sunday - though please not a replacement for church but hopefully something that can bring passion back to many who have forgotton that actucally church is ok!
