Prompt: If you could outlaw one food, what would it be?
Student: Eggies. Because I don’t like when chickens get hurt.
Therapist: How about chickens?
Student: No not chickens, just eggs. I don’t like when chickens are hurt.
TEACHING MOMENT OR JUST TALKING MOMENT?
This is a perfect moment to expand on other food groups. It doesn’t have to be a teaching moment. Maybe your response will deter the child from eating or questioning foods. But, talking about other foods they might like gives them an opportunity to learn about food names and describe them too.
