Louisiana Backroads. ©️
~Rachele Riley

I’m just out here country style
like a tomboy
With my hair wild
Porch seats, above ground pools and clothes lines
the smell of cigarette irritatin’ my eyes
A church steeple found on every other street
A metaphorical reminder of what lives could be

It’s the slow life
Of the deep old South
Historic barns, river bends, over sexed, where women sometimes lose respect
From rumors spread
The songs that bring past pains to life
Just one last time
Daughters and sons reminisce on folks or family that done them wrong
Anger burns through their drunken sorrows
Seemingly ALL night long

Racing down these rust colored roads
Planning my escape from a familiar face
Family addictions they just won’t shake
Drinking and gossiping sealed their fate
Dust sticking to my hair
The wind dries up my tears
Louisiana Backroads lead to small towns #DestinyHostages
some they come, quickly turnaround
Not many strive to see the world
to make it out
Healing, a lost art - generations torn apart
Once in awhile a brave soul leaves
Home town hero
Movie scenes
