Hello, I’m Tommy Scott  - an actor, playwright, theatre-maker, and storyteller from Gateshead, NE. Right now, I’m pouring my heart into Quietest Place in Gateshead – a brand-new stage play about working-class life, masculinity, queerness, addiction, and the long, messy road to recovery. It’s raw. It’s honest. And it’s full of heart. At its core, it’s about the people who rarely get the mic - and what happens when they finally find their voice. So, what’s it about? Danny is in his thirties: gay, broke, grieving, and stuck in his council flat. Since his mam passed, life’s been paused on repeat - drugs, drink, and silence filling the gaps. Then, out of nowhere, a letter arrives with a job offer that could change everything. But starting again means risking everything he knows, even the little he has left. That chance leads Danny to a draughty, run-down community centre in the heart of Gateshead, where four very different men - Danny, Aaron, Jay, and Kieran - come together. Each carries ghosts, regrets, and the weight of unspoken things. What happens between them is fragile, funny, devastating, and full of hope. Why this play? This project isn’t bankrolled by big funders. It’s passion-driven, built with graft, community, and the belief that stories like this matter. Stories about the men who sit quietly at the back of the room. The ones who think no one’s listening. The ones we rarely see on stage. And this is just the start. Quietest Place in Gateshead is the very first official project from  Gemstone North Productions 💎  - a new theatre company I co-founded with Corrina Mulholland. Together, we’re committed to making bold, powerful theatre in the North East - theatre that champions unheard voices and tells untold stories.
