Tea Drinking Thursday - Fortnum & Mason Queen Anne

Aug 12, 2023

Hello and Happy Tea Drinking Thursday!

Last week, I was puppy-sitting my furry nephew and when his mom (my bestie) came home, she showed me a tea collection she just ordered from Fortnum & Mason. It was their Famous Tea Collection, which includes Afternoon Blend, Smoky Earl Grey, Breakfast Blend, Royal Blend, Earl Grey Classic, and the tea I tried today, Queen Anne. She gave me one of each to try and I have a really funny feeling once I try them all, I will be ordering a box for myself. :-)

According to the Fortnum & Mason website, the Queen Anne tea was created in 1907, when the company itself was celebrating their bicentennial. It was to represent the monarchy that was reigning at the time Fortnum & Mason was founded, blended with Assam and Ceylon teas. They call it "a strong, smooth tea." It was definitely smooth, but I wouldn't say it was strong, which is fine. I still love this tea!

To me, the flavor was subtle. I don't want to say it was like drinking water, but I gulped this tea down; it was so good! It was a lighter taste than normal. It still had the burnt/bitterness/earthy taste of black tea, but it was more ... delicate. Now, I know the Queen Anne that reigned in the 1700's wasn't considered "delicate," but ... the tea Fortnum & Mason created would have you thinking differently.

In the end, I highly recommend this tea! After taking my first sip, I immediately fell in love, and I can't wait to have more.

Thank you for joining me today! Take care and drink on!

Please note, I am not getting paid to promote this tea or this brand. I am just a tea drinker enjoying some tea.
