# ☀️ Home Energy Manager — everything new since v0.60 🔋

## 🔮 Solar forecasting & overnight-charge planning (new in v0.75)

The app now predicts your next 48 hours: solar from your local weather radiation forecast, calibrated against your **own** generation history (it gets sharper the longer you run it), plus your typical household consumption and a projected battery curve. Then it reads your import tariff, finds your cheapest overnight window, and works out exactly how much to charge so the battery never dips below your chosen minimum SOC — *without buying more grid power than you actually need*. One tap applies it to the inverter as a charge slot; if solar alone will hold your floor, it says so and charges nothing. The battery chart shows both futures side by side so you can see exactly what the advice buys you.

## 🐙 Octopus Energy integration (v0.62–0.64)

Add your Octopus account + API key and you get a whole dashboard of supplier-recorded data: electricity import/export and gas usage, costs estimated from the tariff that was actually active at the time (VAT, standing charges, export income, monthly and yearly summaries), and an audit view that compares supplier totals against your inverter's readings and highlights missing half-hour intervals. Export the lot as CSV or PDF.

## 🛡️ Smarter battery protection (v0.68, v0.72–0.73)

- **Adaptive Charge** — time periods where a preferred charge rate protects daytime SOC, with a low-SOC recovery rate, then restores your manual settings afterwards.
- **Inverter over-temperature protection** — pauses discharge (timed or forced) before the inverter overheats, resumes after cooling, with confirmation readings to stop rapid cycling.
- **Battery watchdog alerts** — "Battery Connection Lost" if a battery stops responding, and it can even spot a **tripped DC breaker** (battery still talking, inverter-side voltage collapsed) and tell you so.

## 🔌 Hardware & reliability

- Full **Hybrid HV Gen 3** support (6/8/10 kW models) — rated power, HV battery stacks, telemetry retries through transient dongle failures.
- Inverter **clock sync now uses local time** — timed slots fire when you expect, not an hour out during summer time.
- The import-cost box finally matches the chart on every range, "Generating" no longer shows at night, Eco mode sticks properly on Gen3, and a whole family of settings-silently-reverting-each-other races is gone.
- History page: per-range **totals** (energy + cost) and a one-click **Export-all** CSV.

## 🖥️ Desktop niceties

Minimise to the **system tray** (optionally start hidden), zoom hotkeys (Ctrl+= / − / 0), and a dismissible "new version available" banner that only ever talks to GitHub and can be switched off.

## 📦 Where to get it

Note it's a **desktop/server app** (Windows, macOS, Linux), not a mobile app. But because it serves its own web interface, your phone can connect to a running copy — even remotely over [Tailscale](https://tailscale.com) (free, encrypted, no port forwarding): just open `http://<tailscale-ip>:7337` in the phone's browser.
