Back when I first started Müsnah in 2018, it had no fan base obviously. I didn't have a full-time job so I had all the time in the world to draw my oc, which I posted everywhere including DeviantArt. There were a few likes here and there but nothing so encouraging at that moment in time. Then came along Cari-Studio, a digital artist from Lithuania who was a regular on that platform. Although her art style was chibi, she dug my creepy work and kept asking me to draw Müsnah. We hit it off from then on.
Her encouragement was infectious and we regularly chat on DA's Notes talking about art and my oc. Every post I made since Müsnah's debut in March 2018, she would comment on them without fail. Of course, I gave her a lot of encouragement with her art, which was very cute and colourful. It was truly the drive every artist needed to keep going. It was terrific...until August of that year when she began to change dramatically. She stopped communicating with me and stopped liking my posts altogether. I kept asking her what happened on the DM. Her response was to block me on DeviantArt and Twitter.
That hurt me and it bothered me for months, especially if I know that I'm not in the wrong. We had a good friendship going on and it was cut very prematurely.
The last good thing Cari ever did for me was this fan art of Müsnah. According to her, this was what she imagined my oc looks like without the scares. I thought it was a beautiful gesture. It was probably the first Müsnah fan art ever and I love it to this day. As you can see, she had a Patreon, which is now defunct, and Twitter which she hasn't updated since 2020 (I got a friend to check since she had me blocked on that platform).
To this day, I still don't know what made her do that. Was it something I said? Did something tragic happen to her? Was Lithuania under attack? Was my way of talking too aggressive? I guess I will never know. Cari, if you're reading this, thank you for giving me the creative boost I needed. I believe you were one of the few who suggested I start a Müsnah webcomic, which I did on Webtoon and Tapas. I'm enjoying drawing more than ever thanks to you. I don't know what got in between us and I hope we are able to reconnect in the near future but if not, I wish you the very best in what you do. Take care.
