Introducing PRN Podcast!

Hey there, I’m Jen and welcome to PRN Podcast, the self-development podcast for health care providers. I created PRN Podcast because I was looking for an easy, on-demand resource for meditation aids. When I struggled to find exactly what I thought I wanted, I realized that what my expectations of what I wanted were different from what I actually needed. What I wanted was to be able to open one app on my device and instantly have a recorded meditation that could be listened to in a few minutes, most likely while I was driving or going through my own emotions after interacting with a patient. While there’s definitely a purpose and need for focused meditation and recovery, sometimes just a little boost on a commute or sitting in a breakroom is enough to rebalance. I wanted a quick chance to rebalance in the crux of the day. What I found that I needed was the ability to connect with other health care providers in a way that shares our lived experiences with each other. Being a part of the health care industy gives each of us some similar perspectives on similar things. I was craving conversations with like-minded folks and wanted to collect as many of these coversations as possible. This is how the Common Ground series was born. Also, I love coffee so its a punny play on a few different levels. The meditations that are available in the podcast now are all 5-ish to 10-ish minutes long and can easily be listened to while driving, walking to or from the garage at work, or while you’re making your coffee. I plan to continue publishing these meditation episodes because they are easily rinse and repeatable as needed. Each new round of meditations are published on Wednesday. So, here’s the breakdown of the PRN Podcast structure because its a bit different from a typical podcast episode structure. Season 1 Affirmation meditations Scripted and audibly spoken and recorded. Each episode has a theme that corresponds with the monthly concept. Generally, each episode has 4-10 different affirmations repeated for the duration of the music track. I listen to these while I’m driving or doing some sort of focused meditation-like activity. Season 2 Subliminal meditations The idea of creating and listening to subliminal meditations is to stimulate the brain below the threshold of consciousness and positively impact thoughts and behavior. Essentially, the exact same affirmations that are in corresponding episodes of Season 1 have been sped up with the volume turned way down in order for your brain to process in a different way. I generally use these meditations when I’m trying to fall asleep or need an extra stimulus on in the background that isn’t too distracting. Season 3 Common Ground This is the space that’s saved for the Common Ground series where I talk with my fellow health care providers about stuff like their origin story, stuff they love, their own self-development journey, and some of their most useful recommendations. I’m still working on interviewing and recording this series so nothing has been published yet but it’s looking like mid-to late- January 2023 might be the start! I plan to publish at least one a month on a Friday but things are still a bit TBD right now. If you’re interested in joining me for the Common Ground series, please check out the link in the show notes to schedule a Zoom meeting with me! I’d love to hear from you! Season 4 Nothing has been published in Season 4 but I’m saving this space for an experiement that’s been on my mind for a long while, so keep an eye out for when this goes live. Teaser - it involves books! That’s about it for this quick intro to PRN Podcast. Thanks for joining me here and I’m looking forward to connecting with you!
