The Verb Haver | The magic Verb!

Jun 07, 2024

The most common sighting of this verb is on the menu boards outside some of the cafés during the month of May.

"Há Caracóis"

But what exactly does it mean?
The above can be translated as "We have snails" or "There are snails".

Although it looks like the verb «to have» in English, 'haver' actually means «to exist». We would not use this verb to say we have a dog or a car, for example.

It is an impersonal verb too; meaning that we only use one verb form - há'. Which is very convenient!
This is very versatile verb and has multiple uses.

Watch the video below and learn some key phrases using this verb!
