Part II: Faraday Box Project (Via Household Items)

A closer look at our box, halfway through construction.

(To help those who want to join in)

Even if your box doesn't look "pretty" at this point, we can use items like foil hvac tape to 'clean it up' (as described in video below).

This box (seriously) attenuates electromagnetic energy (much moreso than comparable faraday 'bags' you would buy for much more money!).

Benefits include privacy (cuts off all radio / wireless identifiers/signal: bluetooth, wifi, cellular, NFC), mitigating potential EMP attacks on any items inside the box (EMP attacks can destroy electronics, rendering them useless).

I wanted to share halfway pictures -- to let anyone know, it doesn't need to look 'pretty' at this point. We will clean it up more towards the end!

Great Info, make sure in part 3 that you put some type of cardboard or foam on the inside to protect the devices from the conductive sides. I would Highly suggest the metal trashcan route as Faraday awell as they make good faradays to fit a desktop PC and multiply Laptops in . 10 Gallon Metal Trashcan or Metal Feed container from a hardware store or farming tractor store with some conductive tape or metal gasket on the lip of the lid to make it a tight seal.

Ah yes I briefly mention adding layer of separation in video, and planning to talk more details coming up + more tips for higher protection those with other supply access (goal of this series was to be accessible to everyone, but want to mention improvement options I have, for those w/access). Also doing some tests between layers for different reasons, to ultimately offer best advice possible. :) Thanks for your feedback!

Haven't tried trashcans, but considered it. :) Since foil is so commonly mentioned, it seemed worthy to test out for 'science' πŸ˜„ Trashcans can be a nice easy "go-to" for those who already have them. πŸ—‘οΈBut absolutely. In fact something like a fine mesh works even better than a walled faraday! πŸ“‘ ⚑
