First Step: Download Tor Browser
Recommendation (mentioned in video): Download WiPri- the very first thing I setup on a new Linux device. Offers options to randomize metadata including mac address, hostname, signal strength (location). These types of metadata (especially mac address) have been used to identify Tor users and their locations. Read the README.md and a future more in depth advice and guide video will come out.
Why? MAC address a very common identifier of deanonymizing Tor Users in past history. Client MAC address location databases are freely traded across the world. Including public.

ADVANCED USE (ADDING ADDITIONAL PROXY HOPS):
Tor is a tool. Using Tor Browser alone is just fine for most people.
On the other hand, if you want to be extra cautious (say if your life is on the line), you may want to add even more decentralization by adding additional proxy hops (it's free!) using proxychains.
In cases like this, you don't need a VPN (not always helpful), you want Tor + Proxychains.
