Not everyone runs Qubes. Thankfully, we have other tools for handling potentially malicious files.
One great option is to take advantage of Flatpaks.
Yet another alternative for general GNU / Linux operating systems is Firejail.
Bubblewrap is yet another (flatpaks implement Bubblewrap)
