Liberation of Breda.

On 29 October 1944 Polish 1st Armoured Division commanded by general Stanisław Maczek liberated Breda, in Netherlands. Polish soldiers were enthusiastically welcomed by the inhabitants, and general Maczek received honorary citizenship of the Netherlands after the war, at the request of the residents of Breda. There are 162 Polish graves at the Polish military cemetery in Breda, mostly soldiers of the 1st Division. General Maczek is also buried in this cemetery according to his will.
