About Petre Maican
With a Ph.D. in Ecclesiology and research fellowships across Europe, I have spent over a decade exploring the intersection of theology, disability, and ecclesial identity. My work sits at the intersection of faith and disability. Drawing on Orthodox theology, disability studies, and years of academic and pastoral engagement, I offer spiritually grounded counselling to individuals and institutions navigating the realities of intellectual disability within religious life. I am the author of The Asceticism of Emotions: An Eastern Orthodox Approach to Inclusion (2025) and the editor of the collective volume Disability in the Greek Patristic Tradition (2025).
My Mission is to assist Christian communities in becoming spaces of communion, where persons with disabilities are not served out of charity but recognized as bearers of theological insight and agents of transformation.
