Eternal Tombs, a new action combat sandbox MMO is going into open testing today (2 April 2024) for the first time. This game being brought to market by Triune Studios, is a Buy to Play optional sub (for more character slots only) game with no microtransactions and no pay-to-win. I had the opportunity to preview test the game last week and I will say it is a good foundation that needs iterations to improve, and in order to get feedback on what needs to improve the developers have opened the game up for testing.
In order to join the testing you need to complete two things
Register at the website here and don't forget your password. This is your login to create your characters and begin testing: Register Here: https://www.eternaltombs.com/Home/Register
Join the Eternal Tombs playtest on Steam here: Playtest on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1668340/Eternal_Tombs/
You also probably want to join their discord server at : https://discord.gg/qs632wRRXD in order to give feedback in the testing channel.
This is a game in early development, and the developers are going to be running around with their hair on fire, crying in the corners of the office (their words, not mine) while trying to spin up as many servers as they can to get as many people into the game as possible, so they can get as much data and feedback as possible. If you find something you really love about Eternal Tombs, make sure you tell the developers you love it. More often than not genuine people who really enjoy a game don’t really share their enjoyment (in contrast to white knights that will defend anything a developer does, including bad decisions). If you find something you really hate about Eternal Tombs, make sure to tell the developers you hate it. Don’t say “this sucks” and leave it at that, make sure to say “This sucks because….(my reasons).” A developer can’t fix “this sucks” unless you tell them why you think it sucks.
A good example of this would be: Looting sucks! Well why? Looting sucks because it takes too much time to always have to click on the individual items in the drop window. Ok, well now that’s actionable.
Combat is going to be something Dragorox and his team need as much feedback as possible on. Do you like it? Do you love it? Do you hate it? Do you automatically hate it because of its action and not tab? That’s ok, but that’s a personal bias. Do you automatically love it because it’s action and not tab? That’s ok, but that’s also a personal bias.
What do you think about the RMB as the trigger for the hot keys? Do you think this is good, or should pressing the 3 key activate the ability in the #3 slot?
When you play through today, do you feel a connection to your character? Is this something that grabs you hook, line and sinker, or is it something that was just a passing fancy and you won’t ever look at the game again?
Did you think the early quest loop was tuned right? Was it too easy? Was it too hard? Was it grind for the sake of grind or was it a good crawl, walk, run introduction to the game? Was it grind because the drop rate was too low or because the mobs were too hard?
Did you feel a connection to your character? Do you feel your Bonestitcher is a Bonesticher and your Warlord is a Warlord; or do you feel like Johnny with a stick going around just slapping people?
