The Peak District's Chrome Hill and Parkhouse Hill are two classic hills that you should definitely add to your walking bucket list. There are stunning views on the way up and from the summit of this short circular walk.
Chrome Hill is known as the 'Dragon's Back of the Peak District', so if you're lucky, you might even spot a dragon. Chrome Hill and Parkhouse Hill are two of the most distinctive and recognizable hills in the Upper Dove Valley of the Peak District. They are located north of the River Dove, which forms the border between Staffordshire and Derbyshire.
Both Chrome Hill and Parkhouse Hill are limestone reef knolls, former coral reefs that formed more than 340 million years ago. The ancient hills are perfect for Peak District walks, and there are several excellent routes linking them to the famous Dragon's Back ridge.
This area of the Peak District is loved by photographers, and the serrated ridge of the Dragon's Back makes a spectacular backdrop to landscape pictures at any time of year.
