I was in a conversation with my son and daughter. My daughter who is 4 years younger than my son suddenly cut him off while he spoke.
"TAO! TAO!" she exclaimed a couple of times. My son and I both chuckled.
She was actually being practical and was applying a concept we all had spoken about before.
The concept was about communication and the emphasis on gauging your audience.
I shared with them that in writing and speaking as forms of communication one must focus on three particular things.
In the process, one must first gather their thoughts and use the TAO.
The TAO stands for Topic, Approach, and Objective.
The topic often depends on the interaction or situation. Is it written or spoken?
The "Topic" usually gives a good bearing as to what will follow in the exchange.
There 4 ways to approach the delivery of an "Objective" and they are Entertaining, Informing, Demonstrating, and (Persuading.)
To be effective, one must not lose the "Objective" or the point they are trying to convey.
In this case, it seems my son was a little too wordy and was agitating the audience - so my princess decided to express herself.
TAO! TAO! seemed a little nicer than, Will you get the point already?
