10 Everyday Magickal Things

Aug 01, 2020

We all want to make life a little more magickal, right? Add a little flare? Well if you’re a closet witch, beginner witch, or even an adept witch, this article may be for you. Listed below are 10 everyday things you can do to add that little bit of extra magick to your life.

1. Brushing Hair: This is a great way to cleanse yourself whether it’s right after you get up or just before you go to bed. The idea behind this is that with every brush stoke you visualize thought and worries being removed by the brush. If you carry a brush with you throughout the ay, you could most likely use this method to cleanse yourself after unpleasant conversations.

2. Taking a shower/bath: Showers are another way to cleanse one’s self. Like with the brush, visualize all negativity being washed away by the water and down the drain. (This is one of my favourite methods of cleansing)

Baths are a ritual in itself even without being witchy, all those bubble baths and bath bombs. But for us witches a nice candle and a bag of herbs attached to the faucets or in the bath, even a cup of milk can turn the simplest of relaxing soaks into something more.

3. Drink Tea/ Hot Beverages: When I’m not having a hot chocolate, I love flavoured Green Teas. With Green Tea I have different flavours for different times and moods. Rose for when I need a little extra self-love, Lemon for rejuvenation, and Mango & Lychee to add sweetness to my life. Do your research before brewing, especially if you intend on making your own blends.

Another thing you can do with beverages is to stir with intention. Stir clockwise to bring something to you (usually positivity) and clockwise to banish something. You can also draw a pentacle with your spoon for a general enchantment on your drink.

4. Cook a Meal/Bake: You don’t need to be a kitchen witch to cook a lovely meal infused with your intentions. Or if you prefer to bake, it’s the same concept. Add the herbs and spices (and edible flowers) that represent your intention and don’t forget to stir or knead it in too. Also, if you’re baking bread, score a rune or sigil on the top (same can be done with the base of a pies and cheescakes), or add some decorations in those shapes.

5. Meditation: I try to do this every night before I sleep. I use the time to clear and connect with my deities. However, it’s also good for re-centering and clearing one’s thoughts.

6. Clean your house/room: I know, I know, it’s boring and it doesn’t FEEL magickal, but it’s sure as day an excellent way to cleanse your space. In fact, I tend to do this when I have a depression attack. It not only cleanses your space, it helps reorganize your mind too.

7. Light a Candle: The simplest of spells can be completed b lighting a candle. I suggest a tea candle for better results. Light the tea light just after (or whilst) saying a wish, intent of mantra and let the flame carry it out.

8. Wear Makeup/Nail polish: I do not partake in this one myself, but you can use makeup to cast a glamour spell on yourself. You can also paint your nails for your spells. Add it to the beginning of your rituals; choose the colour that corresponds and use your fingers as a wand.

9. Singing: It does not matter if you are good, bad or mediocre at singing. Did you know that singing helps release oxytocin in your body which helps alleviate anxiety and stress. Endorphins, associated with feelings of pleasure, are also released when singing. Science, nature and magick are intertwined, don’t forget that. Also, the sound of singing will cleanse the area around you.

10. Keep a wish/goal diary: This is a great way to put a theme to your day. By doing this you can also add an intention to your day and hep manifest your goals and wishes.

There we go, 10 things you can do in your everyday life to add a little magick. Do you have anything to add to this list? If so, write it in the comments below.
