Announcement: I'm Phasing Out Buy Me A Coffee

Jan 19, 2024

Hello everyone.

I set up a Buy Me A Coffee page in 2021 and a few months later added the membership where I started sharing outtakes and deeper looks at some of my books and characters. BMAC has been great for my inspiration, and it's allowed me to offer extras to people who have read and enjoyed my books.

It has helped me connect with readers away from the punishing algorithms of social media.

Later addition of the audio feature helped me start the podcast.

But three years have now gone by, and I feel I've outgrown the site. The lack of native video options and a few other features have meant I've been fairly limited in what I can do.

Late last year, I decided to revamp my website and made a vow to blog more as I was upskilling with video and wanted to be better at marketing my books away from social media.

Quite by accident, I discovered that the WordPress plan I'm on permits a range of flexible monetisation options including membership. Furthermore, I can upload video - it's the reason I chose that plan in the first place. My website also has a feed that permits my podcast to upload automatically to Spotify. BMAC does not allow that and I know from talking to people who have listened to the podcast, Spotify is the preferred platform for doing that.

And so it all feels like a no brainer. You have one go-to website that you can interact with me, and I can be more flexible in what I post, and not keep ping ponging you between my various sites. I'm currently posting at my website 4-5 times per month, and that's not including the premium blog posts as I haven't posted one there yet! (Though I have transferred most of the recent posts from here to there).

For now, I'm going to keep adding blog posts here and to the website until I am able to phase out Buy Me A Coffee.

Thank you, and I dearly hope to see you all over there!
