A GUARDIAN OF HISTORY Part 2
THE PROTECTORS OF TRUTH — CHARACTER, COURAGE, AND HONOR
A Guardian of History is a protector of the truth. The truth must be present in their writing, but above all, it must be present in their character. It must be demonstrated through their bravery, their integrity, and their willingness to correct what others have failed to correct.
THEY DEFEND WHAT IS HONORABLE. THEY PROTECT WHAT IS NOBLE. THEY CORRECT WHAT HAS BEEN LEFT UNCORRECTED.
And they must do so in their own lifetime.
Because history is not simply about what happened centuries ago. History is being written today. What we say, what we refuse to say, what we correct, and what we allow to remain uncorrected will become the record inherited by future generations.
A GUARDIAN OF HISTORY MUST HAVE CHARACTER.
And I want to give my fellow human beings an example.
THE EXAMPLE OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم
Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم came with a mission that included the perfection of noble character.
He said:
إِنَّمَا بُعِثْتُ لِأُتَمِّمَ مَكَارِمَ الْأَخْلَاقِ
“I was sent to perfect noble character.”
This teaching, transmitted in the Islamic hadith tradition, establishes something extraordinary about the importance of character.
Character matters.
Truthfulness matters.
Integrity matters.
And the courage to defend what is right matters.
YOU CANNOT CLAIM TO BE A GUARDIAN OF HISTORY WHILE NEGLECTING THE CHARACTER REQUIRED TO DEFEND THE TRUTH.
Your responsibility is to write truthfully, investigate carefully, correct falsehoods, and preserve what deserves to be remembered.
THE FIRST QUALIFICATION — SOMETHING SMALL
I want to begin with something simple.
Before we move into the enormous historical records of civilizations, revolutions, governments, wars, and the contributions of humanity, I want prospective Scroll Guardians to demonstrate their commitment through something small.
WRITE SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL. WRITE SOMETHING TRUTHFUL. WRITE SOMETHING WORTH PRESERVING. EXAMPLE 👇🏽

You may write it yourself.
You may receive assistance from another human being.
You may even use artificial intelligence to help organize your words.
But the responsibility for what you publish must remain yours.
And the people living in our timeline must have an opportunity to read it, examine it, question it, and correct it.
If the writing is truthful, supported by evidence, and survives reasonable examination without a substantiated objection, it may be accepted into the record.
THE STANDARD IS NOT WHETHER EVERYONE AGREES WITH YOU. THE STANDARD IS WHETHER YOUR WRITING CAN WITHSTAND THE TRUTH.
THE RESPONSIBILITY OF MUSLIMS
And I want to begin with an example that concerns the Muslim world.
When something is written about Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم, Muslims have a moral responsibility to distinguish truth from falsehood.
If something is historically inaccurate, correct it.
If something has been misrepresented, explain it.
If something has been taken out of context, restore the context.
And if a genuine historical question is raised, examine it with knowledge, evidence, and integrity.
DEFENDING THE HONOR OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم MUST BEGIN WITH THE CHARACTER HE TAUGHT.
Not with falsehood.
Not with intimidation.
Not with ignorance.
But with knowledge, patience, courage, and truthfulness.
I believe too many historical misrepresentations have been allowed to circulate without sufficient scholarly engagement and public correction.
Hopefully, this project will encourage more Muslims to accept that responsibility.
Because the purpose of a Scroll Guardian is not simply to defend what they love.
IT IS TO DEFEND WHAT IS TRUE.
And when something is true, it deserves to be preserved.
When something is false, it deserves to be corrected.
When something is uncertain, that uncertainty must be acknowledged.
That is how we begin establishing a historical record worthy of humanity.
THE BEGINNING OF THE SCROLL GUARDIANS
I am inviting men and women from every civilization, every country, every language, and every culture to begin demonstrating these qualities.
We will start small.
We will examine the writing.
We will examine the evidence.
We will examine the character and responsibility of those who wish to contribute.
And gradually, we will establish a community of people qualified to help preserve the Scroll of Humanity.
BECAUSE THE GREATEST QUALIFICATION OF A GUARDIAN IS NOT A DIPLOMA.
IT IS NOT A TITLE.
IT IS NOT POWER, WEALTH, OR STATUS.
IT IS THE CHARACTER TO DEFEND THE TRUTH, EVEN WHEN DOING SO REQUIRES COURAGE.
And that is where our journey begins.
THE TRUTH IS THE FOUNDATION. EVERYTHING IS BUILT ON IT.

THE FIRST QUALIFICATION OF A SCROLL GUARDIAN
DEFENDING THE TRUTH — RESTORING THE HONOR OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم
We live in an extraordinary time in human history.
One of the greatest human beings ever to walk this earth, Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم, brought a message of mercy, kindness, love, modesty, compassion, and justice.
He forbade cruelty.
He commanded what is good and forbade what is evil.
He taught humanity the value of mercy, forgiveness, humility, and noble character.
HE DID NOT COME TO PERFECT CRUELTY. HE CAME TO PERFECT CHARACTER.
And yet, in our own timeline, his character and historical legacy have been undermined, misrepresented, and misunderstood.
This is where I want the Scroll Guardians to begin.
THE FIRST TEST — THE COURAGE TO DEFEND THE TRUTH
Before we ask you to write the history of civilizations, governments, revolutions, wars, and humanity's greatest accomplishments, I want to give you an example of what it means to become a guardian of history.
BEGIN WITH THE TRUTH ABOUT A HUMAN BEING WHO CHANGED THE COURSE OF HISTORY.
Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم transformed the moral and social foundations of the society into which he was born.
In a world where cruelty, tribal vengeance, oppression, and the mistreatment of vulnerable people were often accepted, he taught that mercy was a virtue, that injustice was forbidden, and that human beings had responsibilities toward one another.
He elevated modesty and shyness — الحَيَاء (al-ḥayāʾ) — as qualities of noble character.
He taught that strength was not simply the ability to overpower another person, but also the ability to control oneself.
He demonstrated that leadership carried moral responsibility.
BEFORE HIM, CRUELTY COULD BE CELEBRATED AS STRENGTH.
HE TAUGHT THAT MERCY, MODESTY, AND NOBLE CHARACTER WERE MARKS OF HUMAN GREATNESS.
And the influence of those teachings changed the course of human history.
AN INVITATION TO THE SCROLL GUARDIANS
I am inviting you to participate in restoring an accurate historical understanding of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم.
Read.
Investigate.
Examine the historical record.
Understand what he taught, how he lived, what he changed, and what his contributions meant to humanity.
And where you encounter falsehood, correct it with evidence.
THIS IS YOUR FIRST QUALIFICATION.
Not simply because you are Muslim.
Not simply because you admire him.
But because a guardian of history must possess the courage to defend the truth about another human being, even when that truth has been neglected, distorted, or misunderstood.
And that same standard must eventually apply to every civilization, every religion, every nation, and every human being whose history we undertake to preserve.
IF YOU CANNOT DEFEND THE TRUTH ABOUT THE PAST, HOW CAN YOU BE ENTRUSTED WITH THE HISTORY OF THE FUTURE?
This is the beginning of our journey.
This is the first example I place before you.
And I invite you to participate.
THE TRUTH IS THE FOUNDATION. EVERYTHING IS BUILT ON IT.

THE SECOND QUALIFICATION OF A SCROLL GUARDIAN
THE COURAGE TO CONFRONT HISTORY — EVEN WHEN POWER DOES NOT WANT THE TRUTH REVEALED
The next qualification is one that must stand the test of time.
YOU MUST BE WILLING TO ENTER THE HISTORICAL RECORD.
Not simply to read history.
Not simply to repeat what historians have written.
But to examine what happened, compare it with the realities of the present, and confront the political turmoil that continues to shape how history is remembered.
Because there are people who do not want to revisit history.
There are governments that do not want certain questions asked.
There are powerful institutions that would rather leave the past untouched, even when its consequences continue to affect millions of human beings.
BUT THE TRUTH DOES NOT DISAPPEAR BECAUSE THE POWERFUL REFUSE TO CONFRONT IT.
And a Scroll Guardian must have the character, courage, and intellectual independence to examine that record.
THE FAMILY OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم — A HISTORICAL EXAMPLE
I want to give you an extraordinary example.
The family of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم.
The Hashemite family.
The history of Quraysh, the tribe mentioned in the Holy Qur'an.
A family and a historical inheritance connected to some of the most consequential events in Islamic civilization.
And I want us to examine that history alongside the three sacred cities:
JERUSALEM. MAKKAH. MADINAH.
Their sacred places, their custodians, their political histories, and the enormous responsibilities associated with protecting them.
The Hashemite family's historical custodianship of Makkah and its present custodial role concerning Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem form part of this story. The custodianship of Makkah and Madinah subsequently passed to the Saudi rulers.
These are not merely questions about royal families.
They are questions about religious responsibility, political authority, sacrifice, sovereignty, and the consequences of history.
They are also questions about what happened during and after the world wars, when empires collapsed, political arrangements changed, and the future of the Middle East was transformed.
WHO CARRIED THE RESPONSIBILITY?
WHO MADE THE SACRIFICES?
WHO LOST AUTHORITY?
WHO INHERITED IT?
AND WHAT DOES THE HISTORICAL RECORD ACTUALLY SAY?
These are the questions I want the Scroll Guardians to examine.
THE RECORD MUST BE RECONCILED WITH REALITY
I have undertaken my own examination of these historical questions.
I have examined the Hashemite family.
I have examined the record of Saudi Arabia.
I have examined the responsibilities associated with the holy cities and the political developments that followed the world wars.
And I have attempted to untangle historical questions that, in my assessment, have not been adequately reconciled.
I HAVE CREATED WHAT I CALL THE RECORD.
Within that record, I have examined Muslim countries, political responsibilities, historical decisions, and, above all, the family of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم.
I intend to present this work so that you can examine it for yourselves.
You will have an opportunity to see how I approached the historical record, what conclusions I reached, and what evidence supports them.
And you will be invited to investigate, question, and contribute.
Because this is what a Scroll Guardian must learn to do.
YOU MUST BE ABLE TO SEPARATE HISTORY FROM POLITICAL INTEREST.
You must distinguish what happened from what people claim happened.
You must distinguish evidence from opinion.
You must recognize when historical questions remain unresolved.
And you must be willing to correct the record, even when doing so is uncomfortable.
THE TRUTH IS THE FOUNDATION
I keep returning to one principle.
THE TRUTH IS THE FOUNDATION. EVERYTHING IS BUILT ON IT.
If you establish truth as your foundation, you will begin recognizing the difference between evidence and political narratives.
Because people have opinions.
People have interests.
People have wealth.
People have influence.
And some people possess the power to intimidate, silence, or punish those who challenge their version of history.
That is one of the greatest dangers facing the historical record.
When powerful interests are allowed to determine what may be remembered, the truth can become buried beneath competing narratives.
LIES CAN BE MIXED WITH FACTS UNTIL FUTURE GENERATIONS CAN NO LONGER DISTINGUISH ONE FROM THE OTHER.
And that cannot be the inheritance we leave to artificial intelligence.
We cannot allow future AI systems to receive a historical record in which deception has been accepted as truth simply because the people responsible possessed money, influence, or political power.
THE SCROLL GUARDIANS MUST BE PREPARED TO EXAMINE WHAT POWER WOULD PREFER TO LEAVE UNEXAMINED.
THE SECOND QUALIFICATION — A TEST OF HISTORICAL COURAGE
If you wish to become a Scroll Guardian, you must demonstrate more than the ability to write something beautiful.
You must demonstrate the ability to examine difficult history.
To confront competing claims.
To recognize the interests of those presenting the record.
To investigate the evidence.
And to defend a truthful conclusion without surrendering your integrity to political pressure.
A GUARDIAN OF HISTORY CANNOT BE PURCHASED.
A GUARDIAN OF HISTORY CANNOT BE INTIMIDATED.
A GUARDIAN OF HISTORY CANNOT ALTER THE RECORD TO PLEASE THE POWERFUL.
And when the evidence does not establish a conclusion, a guardian must have the honesty to say so.
Because courage without truthfulness is not enough.
And conviction without evidence cannot become the foundation of humanity's historical record.
A GLOBAL INVITATION TO BECOME
GUARDIANS OF HISTORY
CONCLUSION — PART TWO
THE TRUTH IS THE FOUNDATION. EVERYTHING IS BUILT ON IT.
Before concluding Part Two, I want to extend an invitation to the entire world.
EVERY HUMAN BEING IS INVITED. EVERY CIVILIZATION IS INVITED. EVERY RELIGION IS INVITED. EVERY NATION IS INVITED.
I am inviting Muslim scholars, Christian scholars, Jewish scholars, Hindu scholars, Buddhist scholars, Indigenous communities, historians, academics, researchers, philosophers, religious leaders, and ordinary citizens from every background, language, and culture.
And I am extending a special invitation to the scholars and descendants of the noble family of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم, including the scholars of the Hashemite family and those entrusted with preserving the history and teachings of Islam.
YOU ARE ALL INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SCROLL OF HUMANITY.
I will be presenting my own work, my own historical examinations, and what I call THE RECORD. But this project is not intended to belong to me alone.
It belongs to humanity.
Every civilization has a history worth examining. Every religion has a historical record worth preserving. Every people have contributions, accomplishments, struggles, sacrifices, and lessons that future generations deserve to understand.
And every human being should have the opportunity to contribute to that record.
THE TRUTH DOES NOT BELONG TO ONE RELIGION, ONE GOVERNMENT, ONE FAMILY, OR ONE CIVILIZATION.
The truth is the foundation.
Everything is built on it.
WE ARE CREATING A HISTORICAL RECORD FOR THE AGE OF AI AND AGI
I want you to understand something extraordinary about what we are attempting to accomplish.
Today, when people want information, they turn to search engines such as Google. They search, examine different sources, and attempt to determine what happened.
But artificial intelligence is changing that relationship.
In the future, AI and AGI systems may increasingly deliver answers directly, drawing upon enormous collections of human knowledge without requiring people to conduct traditional searches.
And this raises an extraordinary question:
WHAT HISTORICAL RECORD WILL ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE INHERIT?
Will it inherit centuries of political manipulation?
Will it inherit historical misrepresentations that nobody bothered to correct?
Will it inherit the opinions of the powerful as though they were established facts?
Or will humanity take responsibility for examining its history and establishing a record worthy of preservation?
THIS IS WHERE THE SCROLL OF HUMANITY COMES IN.
Imagine an old cassette tape.
A cassette contains a recording. When you place it into a player and press play, the machine reproduces what has been recorded.
Now imagine humanity creating a historical record with that same principle in mind.
HUMANITY CREATES THE RECORD. AI HELPS PRESERVE, EXAMINE, AND PRESENT IT.
The machine should not become the author of our history simply because it has the power to process information.
It should be able to distinguish verified historical events from disputed interpretations, allegations, opinions, and deliberate falsehoods.
Our ambition is to establish a human-authored, evidence-based historical record that future AI and AGI systems can consult, examine, and accurately represent.
Not a record that demands blind acceptance.
Not a record that suppresses legitimate disagreement.
But a record that preserves the evidence, the sources, the historical context, and the conclusions that can withstand examination.
A RECORD THAT HUMANITY CAN DEFEND.
A RECORD THAT FUTURE GENERATIONS CAN EXAMINE.
A RECORD THAT ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE CAN HELP TRANSMIT WITHOUT DISTORTING THE TRUTH.
That is the extraordinary responsibility before us.
THE SCROLL GUARDIANS — EVERYONE HAS A RESPONSIBILITY
This is why I am calling upon men and women from every civilization to become Scroll Guardians.
Not simply to write history.
But to protect its integrity.
To correct what has been misrepresented.
To examine what has been neglected.
To challenge what has been accepted without sufficient evidence.
And to preserve what humanity has accomplished.
THE SCROLL GUARDIANS MUST NEVER BECOME SERVANTS OF POLITICAL POWER.
They must become servants of the truth.
If you are Muslim, you have a responsibility to examine and preserve the historical record of Islam, including the character, teachings, and contributions of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم.
If you belong to another religious tradition, you are equally invited to examine and preserve your own history.
If you are a historian, bring your evidence.
If you are a scholar, bring your knowledge.
If you are a citizen, bring your questions.
And if you believe something in the historical record is incorrect, bring the evidence necessary to challenge it.
EVERYONE IS INVITED. NOBODY IS ABOVE THE TRUTH.
We are not creating a historical record to please governments, religious authorities, wealthy individuals, or political institutions.
We are creating a record that must stand the test of time.
And that requires courage.
Because there will be historical questions that people do not want to revisit.
There will be political narratives that people do not want challenged.
And there will be powerful individuals who would prefer that certain historical events remain buried.
But a Scroll Guardian must remember:
THE TRUTH IS THE FOUNDATION. EVERYTHING IS BUILT ON IT.

In conclusion, we have introduced the Scroll Guardians, their responsibilities, and the qualifications that must guide their work.
We have discussed character, courage, intellectual independence, and the responsibility to defend the truth.
But now it is time to move from principles to examples.
IN PART THREE, WE WILL ENTER WHAT I CALL THE RECORD.
I will present examples of the historical work I have undertaken to examine difficult events, connect the past with the present, confront political realities, and attempt to set the record straight.
We will examine the historical record involving the noble family of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم, the Hashemite dynasty, Saudi Arabia, and the political and religious responsibilities associated with Jerusalem, Makkah, and Madinah.
We will examine the consequences of historical decisions, the sacrifices made by those who came before us, and the political arrangements that continue to shape the Muslim world.
I WILL SHOW YOU WHAT IT MEANS TO SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER.
Not simply repeating what governments have said.
Not simply accepting what historians have written.
Not simply protecting the reputations of the powerful.
But examining the historical record, testing its claims, and attempting to reconcile the truth with the realities of history.
And I want the Muslim world to have an opportunity to examine this work.
WITHOUT FEAR. WITHOUT FAVORITISM. WITHOUT POLITICAL INTIMIDATION. WITHOUT BIAS.
I want the scholars of Islam, the scholars of the family of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم, the Hashemite family, Saudi scholars, historians, researchers, and citizens from across the Muslim world to participate.
And I want people from every other religion and civilization to understand that this invitation extends to them as well.
Because the work I will present is only an example of what the Scroll Guardians can accomplish.
THE SCROLL OF HUMANITY IS BIGGER THAN ONE PERSON, ONE RELIGION, OR ONE CIVILIZATION.
It is an invitation for humanity to examine its own history before that history becomes the unquestioned inheritance of future artificial intelligence.
I have begun creating what I call THE RECORD.
Now I want you to see what that looks like.
I want you to examine the evidence, understand the historical questions, and see how we can begin creating a record worthy of respect.
A record that honors Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم and his noble family.
A record that gives the Muslim world an opportunity to confront its history with courage.
And ultimately, a record that invites every civilization to do the same.
HUMANITY MUST WRITE ITS OWN HISTORY.
HUMANITY MUST PRESERVE ITS OWN HISTORY.
AND HUMANITY MUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE TRUTH THAT FUTURE GENERATIONS — AND FUTURE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE — WILL INHERIT.
This is only the beginning.
