Don’t worry…I have no grievances with you folks. On the contrary, I’m very grateful for the support we’ve received so far! On the surface, 2025 seemed like a slow year for the project, and while it kind of was, there was a lot of important work happening behind the scenes. We’ve continued to build out our "WFYZ World" by reworking the storyline several times, recording different segments and "promos"and recorded a few hours worth of interviews.
I guess if I did have a grievance to air, it would be similar to what virtually all other audio creators are probably feeling right now. It’s rough out there for us. With everyone scrambling to "strategize for video," few partners in our space are looking to support an audio-only project like this. Matt and I have talked about this a lot on our behind-the-scenes stream, and why we think it’s short-sighted. Creatively, it limits creators to virtually one type of format. If audio has to seamlessly convert to video, or vice versa, it pretty much means everything being made now is the standard chat show. Of course, there’s nothing inherently wrong with that format, but when most new podcasts are defaulting to that and few places are investing in quality audio projects…that’s a challenge. But it’s one we’re willing to take on. Call it our "feats of strength"
The whole point of Our Beloved Medium is to champion the important role radio and audio have played in our past, present, and hopeful future. So on this Festivus, this day of grievances, if you could spread some cheer and support our effort, it would be greatly appreciated.
