The first eight weeks of this year have been genuinely transformational for NOT ON AMAZON. The new Admins Anonymous team are holding down the day-to-day tasks of running this page in a bang up fashion! With four people monitoring the inbox throughout the day there is a lot more content hitting people's feeds on a much more regular basis than when I was approving the content in batches- that was the only way I was able to fit it in with all the other N.O.A. stuff that needed doing so this is a pretty major upgrade.
So just so you know, I'm still here, and for the rest of this year there's a lot of work for me to do before I can get back to the life of a full-time things maker. I recently spent nearly a full week making instruction sets for the new Admins including everything there is to know about the systems that have been agreed on and put in place over the last three years then earlier this week there was a "member dispute" let's call it, which took nearly a whole day to investigate and resolve. This gave us all a bit of a lesson in how some things fit together and made me realise that we already have a set procedure for that exact situation - another set of instructions fro me to write out.
Thankfully with the new team doing the day-to-day (makes it sound like a dance) I now have the time to make all these documents and when they're all finished it will be much easier to bring more people on to the admin team. It's been interesting for me to see some of the 'penny drop' moments the new admins are having as they realise the nuanced approach required to keep NOT ON AMAZON as nice as it is and reassuring to know that they're committed to taking this group to new levels this year. This community is fucking amazing and its members never fail to let it be anything other than that!
Another pretty amazing thing
is the amount of work for sale on Shop N.O.A. today, if you haven't seen it you really need to go and have a look. There are new sellers signing up regularly and new products being added daily. The thing which has really surprised me is the fact that at least a third of the sellers on the website don't actually post their work on this page, they're fully defunding the billionaires and keeping it independent. I can't tell you how much I love that! it has been an extraordinary couple of months for NOT ON AMAZON with a load of new people joining the group and posting work, a load of people signing up to the "fastest growing online marketplace", a load of people using said marketplace to find amazing artwork and one of a kind items, a new admin team breathing fresh life into the organisation.
None of could do any of this without each other.
