Free software that I use to create 2D games

Sep 18, 2021

As in the title of this post, I would like to share with you the programs that I use on a daily basis to develop my games.

  1. Unity

A powerful tool that no game developer can do without. It allows you to create 2D and 3D games on almost every platform. I value this software the most for its simple and clear interface and huge community whose knowledge will help you whenever you get stuck with your own problem.

  2. VS Code

This is my number one when I must pick code editor/IDE. Very lightweight software with tons of plugins and add-on's will help You with code in every language. I started using it when I was learning how to create websites. Now it helps me in programming games every day without overloading my computer.

  3. Inkscape

With inkscape you can create scalable vector graphics. The software is completely free and easy to use.

  4. Audacity

Editing music tracks and recording your own sounds? Audacity is the solution. With simplicity it allows you to make whatever You need to develop games with amazing sound effects and soundtracks!

  5. Free Cam

Simple app for screen recording. Just choose recording window and push play. Free cam is great way to start with posting video. Also allows you to make some very basic editing after you finish record.

I hope You enjoy this post 😊
