Death is the 13th trump or Major Arcana card in most tarot decks. Major Arcana cards symbolize important lessons, realizations and events which usually are connected with those awakenings and attainments. They feel almost like initiations where those experiences open us up and cast us deeper into greater parts of life. These moments are subjective but what they mean to us and their importance is associated and linked with the collective consciousness thus universal and related with every one of us. Death unlikely represents a physical death but rather signifies an end, maybe of a relationship, or an interest, and therefore it implies an increased sense of self-awareness. It makes us study where we went wrong or why something failed, keep the good and make way for something new. It's the death of a stance and being able now to view from a different perspective and to look at the bigger picture. Consideration all of its elements. The card before Death is The Hanged Man and it signifies a moment of suspension and of entrapment where we are caving-in but in actuality reflecting, listening to our intuition and discerning. After Death comes Temperance which shows us being successful of balancing something. Sometimes, the water being poured in and out of the cups symbolize the two hemispheres of our brain and it implies unity in consciousness or balancing the feminine and masculine energies. Death might imply an ego death and we rather go through many different ego deaths in our life. Each time we come into a situation or an event where both mastery of our emotional and logical is needed 'cause we're always looking for meaning. Experience offers that and even more but we have to be mind, body and soul in unison. It might be the death of an old way of being which was limiting. In a way, for a new door to open an old one must close and that's totally ok because that's how life gets experienced to the fullest. Even the death of infatuation leads to the birth of love and so on where the passing notions give way for the eternal and unbounded ones. Even these pass and then other ones will arise and so forth. So, death indicates a transition, changes, a transformation.
