Inspired By My Favorite FM Radio Station

Back in the 90’s, I was listening to a radio station called “The Bear”. It played the 70s retros and all hits. There was 97.7, 94.1, and all hit 92.3. I often heard the station say Kinston, NC. The station would put on a show called “Back Track USA” with Kid Kelly. I loved The Bear so much that I made a cassette tape and recorded The Bear. I drew a picture of a bear to spot the cassette quickly from all others because I had so many different cassettes. The Bear was recorded on a Maxell XLII cassette. I never thought that I would be recording and making a show some day of my own in podcasting.

The CAT BEAR Podcast

So many times I’ve heard the radio pronounce the station’s name, “The Bear”. When I started my podcast, I wanted it to have a special name and logo, but I did not want to name it The Bear. However, I wanted something similar, and named my podcast CAT BEAR (The Red Panda). As I make episodes and talk about some of the old retro music, I remember how great the 70s music sounded coming from my favorite radio station. Unlike radio, the podcast doesn’t have the radio style. It is more of a music commentary type of talk show. It is the Podcast way. I’m very thankful.
