BLIND LANDING

BLIND LANDING

Apr 16, 2023

This is my first video game I wrote in 1986. It lived only in my memories, until recently, when I found the tape I saved it on among my childhood things.

The damaged, torn ribbon had to be repaired. Then after many failed attempts I finally managed to load it. Due to the aged tape, I had to correct read errors byte by byte. Finally, the three-part program had to be converted into a CAS file that could be run in an emulator, with some program modification. As a result of several days of persistent work, I can now publish my program.
In addition to this, only the editing of the video of the restoration will be a bigger task.

Hello!

My name is László Nickmann. I wrote the game "BIND LANDING" in 1986, when I was 16 years old. I started getting to know computer technology and programming in the fall of 1985, when I was 15 years old, in the then-starting school IT club. The club was managed by Károly Engelbrecht. The school (as part of the school computer project) then received its first microcomputer, the Hungarian-developed HT-1080Z/64 school computer, which was a clone of the TRS-80.

The game is written in Hungarian for the machine that supports characters with Hungarian accents, but it also works on the TRS-80 that displays the original characters.
