👆Our principal talks about his vision for a non-violent educational system in Nepal!
This fund has been set up for "New Marigold" school in Lamjung. The school itself has been re-opened only for three months and is therefore incredibly new with lots of potential for constructive change.
Volunteers from around the world support the growth of the children here. Thus, the school is provided with a global perspective and this informs the teaching which takes place: music, art, sports and geography have all been enhanced in this unique establishment. The children's ages range from three to twelve, meaning there is a wide scope of work to do in order to accommodate their different capabilities and interests.
However, due to the political climate in Nepal, the government does not support and, in fact, actively encourages the shut-down of New Marigold. This is because a progressive school, ensuring non-violence and doing it's best to provide a free education for it's pupils, is a threat to government-funded schools where families must pay for school uniforms, food and other educational necessities themselves.
By supporting New Marigold you would be enabling the construction of a science lab and a library alongside improving computer lessons and physical education.
Please help to further the success of New Marigold by donating to the school and enabling the volunteers who give up their time to wholeheartedly support the children. You will be providing a better education and, by extention, a better future for those who study there.
