Greetings, dear friends. I haven't been here for a long time—more than three years. Today, I dare to write and ask for your help again.
For the past two years, I have been raising my two children alone. I work as a guitar teacher at a local art school and hold two other jobs. I try my best to provide for my family, but making ends meet has become extremely difficult. My husband left us two and a half years ago, and since then, all financial responsibility has fallen solely on me.
It is painful to admit, but despite working around the clock, I still cannot afford a portable power station. Because of constant shelling and blackouts, we often live without electricity. Like many Ukrainians, we regularly face a lack of water, heating in winter, communication, and the ability to cook food.
To be honest, I hoped to save enough money to buy a generator this summer. I worked tirelessly for it, but my school salary was suddenly cut, and there is nothing I can do about it. I applied to every possible social service. Unfortunately, during this difficult wartime, the only assistance they could provide was laundry detergent, shampoo, a few toiletries, and a couple of towels. That was all they had left.
Today, there is no electricity again, and we have run out of drinking water. Why does the water run out? We live in a small house in the private sector of Boyarka, Kyiv region. There is no centralized water supply here, so we had to drill a well six years ago. The well is deep, and the pump cannot function without electricity. When the power goes out for days, my children and I are left completely without water.
If I could buy a power station like the one in the photo, it would solve our biggest problems. The price for such a device in Ukrainian stores ranges between $1200 and $1800. Right now, my income is only enough to cover basic food, clothes, and medicine for the children. Saving money on top of that is simply impossible.
I constantly appeal to the court to oblige the children's father to pay child support. However, the hearings keep getting postponed month after month, and the case has been dragged out for over a year. Sadly, with the ongoing war, enforcement is incredibly difficult, and deadbeat fathers can easily avoid their duties without worrying whether their children have eaten today. He has completely vanished from our lives. Don't ask how this is possible—I don't know the answer myself.
I cannot understand how anyone can abandon their children, especially during a war. I love my kids deeply and feel so sorry for what they have to go through. I would rather deprive myself of everything than abandon them. Sadly, many men in Ukraine do exactly that right now.
I feel very uncomfortable asking for help, and I'm not sure if I can raise such a large sum. But you have already helped me once with firewood and essentials, for which I am forever grateful.
