Volunteering and Where I Donate Money

Volunteering and Where I Donate Money

Mar 25, 2022

So it's been a month of our fight for freedom. During these 4 weeks of the war, the Ukrainian people have created the biggest volunteer chain in the world. I am always looking for ways to volunteer more, but the reality is that I don't have a car or any other valuable skills that are in high demand right now, and there are more than enough people willing to offer their hands to work, especially in Odesa that hasn't seen any significant destruction (yet?)

But the thing that is always required is food and money. I have donated all I could during these days, every time I see a request for money and if I am sure it's legit - I donate. Your support is helping me donate more and help more people, so I want to share the causes I donate to. I'll share some checks (those I could find since I did not collect them in the early days), but I'll cover some information to protect the identities of the volunteers (since the occupants started to target them).

The list of my donations (that I remember of):

  • The Come Back Alive fund that you can donate to, too

  • Volunteers cooking food and collecting gear to our Territory Defence units in Odesa (a person I know who runs an eco-blog and posts video updates of her and her team's work daily)

  • Volunteers who searched for sleeping bags and bulletproof vests for our warriors (a lady that runs a nail salon that I go to, also provides checks and video proof)

  • Volunteers who've been providing warm clothes to our soldiers (a lady who runs a clothes shop. She designs and creates the clothes herself. She has also donated a lot of her remaining stock to refugees and relocated Ukrainians within the country. Her husband also owns an army surplus store, he can find a lot of crucial items that are hard to get)

  • Odesa and Mykolaiv zoos

  • Odesa hippodrome (a lot of horses ended up just abandoned, the situation is horrible there)

  • Odesa animal shelter (on food for abandoned pets)
