I am outraged by this statement by Amnesty International. They are saying that Ukrainian Amed Forces are putting civilians "in danger" by stationing in residential areas. No. No, my darlings, they are not. russia is the one "endangering" them since day one. Since day one they have been targeting residential areas, civil infrastructure, and straight up just malls and houses. That's first. And second - Ukrainian Armed Forces can stay in my kitchen for all I care - and it still does not make my kitchen a "valid target" for russian attacks.
Ukrainian Armed Forces ARE NOT VALID TARGETS FOR RUSSIAN ATTACKS!
THERE ARE NO VALID TARGETS FOR RUSSIAN ATTACKS ON THE TERRITORY OF UKRAINE!!!
It's not a war crime to defend ourselves, every inch of my country is endangered by russia every second of every day for the past 163 days. Ukrainian Armed Forces are not "hiding behind civilians" they ARE civilians, or they were them just a few months ago. These are my brothers, my friends, and my neighbors, who are defending their brothers, friends, and neighbors. They are at home, and they can stay wherever the fuck they want, and it doesn't give russia ANY justification to shoot at them. Also, why would they even try to use civilians as "human shields" if russians don't give a fuck about civilians and have been torturing and executing them for 5 months now???
I have got a headache from screaming about it. I've been called a nazi, I've been told my country does not exist and russia will destroy me soon enough, I've been called slurs, threatened, victim-blamed, butwhatabbout-ed... I am enraged, and I have many picturesque words to say about it all, but our Foreign Affairs Minister Dmytro Kuleba managed to express it all in a very short and precise way: "False moral equivalence between the aggressor and the victim" and "fake neutrality". That's exactly what it is. (Also, this is why I could never be a diplomat or a politician, I could never stay calm enough to put it into words so politely.)
