I wanted to tell you a little bit about myself so you can get to know me a little. I'm a lecturer in music at a college in New Zealand (no, we're not the same place as Australia!), where I teach songwriting, performance, music theory and media studies. I've been doing this job for coming up 10 years. I'm also working towards a PhD. One of the things that I've noticed about my students, and being in the study world myself, even myself, is that often when we're trying to learn a new skill or a new piece of knowledge, we often think we have to work hard in order to learn properly. I don't think this is true - I'm committed to finding ways to streamline learning, the hacks and the shortcuts, to work smart in order to make learning fun and easy.
